Gefran DLC Diaphragm load cell without amplifier

Specifications

SKU: DLC (Diaphragm Load Cell)

Technical: Technical specifications
Overview
Pancake like diaphragm load cell designed for the use in Fully electric Injection Molding Machines.

The Flat-Body design allows for easy integration into the injection unit without adding to the machine length.

Available with standardized mV/V output or an EEPROMModule to allow for higher mV/V-Output for better signal/noise ratio (to be used with special VDA-Amplfier).

High-grade steel for endless cycles and optional amplifier necessary.

Weighing: Main features
FLAT-body design
Good linearity

A DLC (Diaphragm Load Cell) without an amplifier is a raw strain-gauge transducer designed to measure high-capacity compression or dynamic forces. Because it lacks internal amplification, it outputs a small millivolt-level signal (typically 1–2 mV/V) that requires an external signal conditioner or high-resolution ADC to be readable by most controllers.
Key Specifications
These load cells are often characterized by their "flat-body" or "pancake" design, which allows for easy integration into industrial machinery without adding significant length.
  • Output Signal: Standardized at approximately 1 mV/V or 2 mV/V depending on the specific model.
  • Measurement Range: Available in high-capacity versions, such as 80 kN or 200 kN (approx. 20,000 kg).
  • Bridge Resistance: Typically features an internal Wheatstone bridge with resistance values like 350 Ohm (4 strain gauges) or 700 Ohm (8 strain gauges).
  • Construction: Usually machined from a single block of stainless steel (e.g., 17-4 PH) to provide high durability and resistance to harsh environments.
  • Excitation Voltage: Recommended range is typically 5V to 15V DC.
Recommended DLC Products
The following models are highly rated for industrial applications where an external amplifier is already present or not required:
  • Gefran DLC Diaphragm Load Cell
    • Features: Features a low-profile, flat-body design specifically for injection molding machines.
    • Performance: According to Gefran, it offers high linearity and is machined from high-grade steel for "endless cycles".
  • Omega DLC101 Dynamic Load Cell
    • Use Case: Ideal for measuring impact or pulsating forces due to its fast response and high frequency range (up to 25 kHz).
    • Design: A welded construction that encloses and protects piezoelectric crystals from the environment.
  • Ato Flat Load Cell (Diaphragm Type)
    • Capacity: Available in a wide variety of ranges from 50 kg to 10 tons.
    • Accuracy: Rated at 0.1% F.S. (Non-linearity) according to manufacturer data.
  • Eilersen Compression Load Cell DLC
    • Protection: Features a rugged IP68 rating, making it suitable for submerged or extremely harsh wash-down environments.
    • Material: Constructed from stainless steel 17-4 PH and AISI 316.
Integration Requirements
Since these cells do not have a built-in amplifier, you will need the following for a complete measurement system:
  1. Excitation Power: A stable DC voltage (usually 10V) to power the internal bridge.
  2. External Amplifier: A module like the HX711 (24-bit ADC) or a dedicated industrial transmitter (e.g., 4-20mA or 0-10V output) to boost the millivolt signal.
  3. Shielded Cabling: Necessary to prevent electromagnetic interference from distorting the very low-level raw output signal.
